Monoprinting inspired and formed by botanical materials.
Monoprinting
Monoprinting is a centuries-old printmaking practice that celebrates expression, texture, and subtle unpredictability.
Unlike traditional methods designed to produce multiple identical copies, monoprinting yields a single, unrepeatable impression shaped by pressure, pigment, and process.
Each piece carries its own quiet variations in tone and form, allowing the unexpected to become part of the art. It is this blend of history and spontaneity that continues to make monoprinting so compelling.
Ghost Monoprint
A ghost print is created after the first impression has been lifted from an inked or painted plate. Without adding more pigment, a second sheet is pressed onto the surface, capturing the remaining traces of color.
The result is softer, more delicate, and often beautifully subtle in texture and form. When working with a gel printing plate, ghost prints also lift the faint residue left behind, revealing unexpected layers and quiet variations that might otherwise go unseen.
Tools & Materials
Monoprinting traditionally uses a printing plate, brayer, pigment, brushes, and paper.
In my work, I also gather plants, flowers, and naturally shed feathers from the garden and natural spaces around my home, weaving elements of botanical printmaking into each unique impression.
The landscape where I gather these materials is a certified wildlife habitat, thoughtfully maintained to support birds, pollinators, and other native wildlife through sustainable and nature-friendly practices.
A small selection of my work is shown below.
